A Little Trivia

History of This Wine

The Philip Togni Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley has a long and storied history. The vineyard was planted in the late 1800s by Italian immigrant Philip Togni, who had come to California seeking a better life. He purchased the land in 1882 and began planting vines, including Cabernet Sauvignon.

In the early 1900s, Philip's son Louis took over the vineyard and continued to cultivate it for many years. In the 1950s, Louis' son Tony took over and began producing wines from the estate. The first vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon was released in 1975, and since then it has become one of Napa Valley's most sought-after wines.

Notable vintages include 1982, which is considered one of the best ever produced at the vineyard; 1992, which won numerous awards; 1997, which was highly acclaimed; 2001, which was praised for its complexity; 2005, which was lauded for its balance; and 2009, which is considered one of the greatest vintages ever produced at Philip Togni Vineyard.
