History of This Wine
Ferren Chardonnay is a small-batch, single-vineyard wine from the Sonoma Coast. It was first released in 2006 and has since become a cult favorite among wine enthusiasts. The grapes are sourced from the Ferren Vineyard, which is located on a hillside overlooking the Russian River Valley. The vineyard was planted in 1998 and produces some of the most sought-after Chardonnay in California.
The winemaking team at Ferren focuses on minimal intervention to allow the terroir of the vineyard to shine through in each vintage. The wines are fermented with native yeasts and aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a complex and balanced Chardonnay with notes of citrus, stone fruit, and baking spices.
Notable vintages include 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Each vintage has been highly acclaimed by critics and wine lovers alike for its unique expression of the Sonoma Coast terroir.
