This winery is unique in that it was founded by a group of passionate friends who took love of good wine to the next level. To make their passion a reality, they turned an old chicken coop into a winery and named it Cattleya Alma de Cattleya to celebrate the spirit of their endeavor.

 

History of This Wine

The Cattleya 'Alma de Cattleya' Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma County was first produced in the early 2000s. The wine is a blend of two different vineyards, one located in the Russian River Valley and the other in Dry Creek Valley. The grapes are harvested at night to preserve their freshness and then cold-fermented to bring out the bright fruit flavors.

Notable vintage years for this wine include 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. These vintages have all been highly praised by critics for their intense aromas and flavors of citrus fruits, melon and tropical fruits.

In 2009, Cattleya 'Alma de Cattleya' Sauvignon Blanc was awarded a gold medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. In 2011 it was also awarded a silver medal at the International Wine Challenge in London.
