A Little Trivia

The winery Pecchenino is actually a family-owned business that has been operating since the 1800s. In fact, it was the first winery in Piedmont to have a female lead vintner, when current owner Maria Teresa Pecchenino took over in 1984. This makes for one of the longest continuous run female-run businesses in Piedmont!

History of This Wine

The Pecchenino family has been producing wine in the Langhe region of Piedmont since 1877. The winery was founded by Giuseppe Pecchenino, who was one of the first to recognize the potential of Nebbiolo as a great variety for making wines in this area.

Since then, the winery has been passed down through generations and is now run by brothers Gianni and Giorgio Pecchenino. They continue to produce high-quality wines from their vineyards located in some of the best areas for Nebbiolo production in Piedmont.

Notable vintage years include 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. These vintages have all been highly acclaimed by critics and have earned numerous awards.

In 2017, the winery celebrated its 140th anniversary with a special edition bottling of their Langhe Nebbiolo. This wine was made from grapes grown on some of their oldest vines and aged for two years in large oak barrels before being bottled. It was released to commemorate this important milestone for the winery and has become a collector's item among fans of Italian wines.
