Norton Reserva Malbec is produced in one of the oldest wineries in Argentina, established in 1895 by Edmund James Palmer Norton. The name of the winery is a tribute to Norton’s Scottish heritage and so funny fact about it is that it has a resident Highland cow named Colin as one of its mascots!

 

History of This Wine

Norton Reserva Malbec is a red wine produced by the Norton winery in Mendoza, Argentina. The winery was founded in 1895 by Edmund James Palmer Norton, an English immigrant who planted the first vineyards in the region. The Norton Reserva Malbec was first released in 1997 and has since become one of the most popular wines from Argentina. It is made from 100% Malbec grapes grown in the Uco Valley and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

Notable vintage years include 1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010. In 2008, Norton won a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge for its Reserva Malbec. In 2010, it was named “Best Red Wine” at the Decanter World Wine Awards. In 2012, it was awarded 93 points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and 94 points by Wine Spectator.
