History of This Wine

Ferraton Pere & Fils Crozes-Hermitage La Matiniere is a red wine from the Rhone region of France. It is made from Syrah grapes grown in the northern part of the appellation. The Ferraton family has been making wine in the region since 1947, when they purchased their first vineyard. Since then, they have expanded their holdings and now own over 50 hectares of vineyards in the region.

The Ferratons are known for producing wines with great complexity and depth, and La Matiniere is no exception. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels before being bottled. It has aromas of dark fruit, spice, and earthy notes, with a full-bodied palate that is balanced by soft tannins and a long finish.

Notable vintage years include 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In 2011, the Ferratons were awarded a Gold Medal at the Concours General Agricole de Paris for their Crozes-Hermitage La Matiniere. In 2012, Wine Spectator gave it 90 points and named it one of its Top 100 Wines of the Year. In 2014, it was awarded a Gold Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
