History of This Wine

The Calera Jensen Vineyard Pinot Noir from Mount Harlan was first planted in 1975 by Josh Jensen, a former geologist who had a passion for wine. He chose the site for its unique combination of limestone and shale soils, which are ideal for growing Pinot Noir grapes. The vineyard has since become renowned for producing some of the finest Pinot Noirs in California.

Notable vintage years include 1992, when the wine won a gold medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition; 1996, when it was named one of Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of the Year; and 1998, when it was awarded 95 points by Robert Parker. In recent years, Calera has continued to produce outstanding wines from this vineyard, with several vintages earning scores of 90+ points from leading critics.
