History of This Wine

The Antoine Graillot & Raul Perez 'Encinas' Mencia from Bierzo is a Spanish red wine made from the Mencia grape variety. It was first produced in 2009, when French winemaker Antoine Graillot and Spanish winemaker Raul Perez joined forces to create this unique blend of Mencia grapes grown in the Bierzo region of Spain. The vineyards are located on steep slopes at an altitude of 500-600 meters, where the climate is cool and dry with warm days and cold nights. The soil is composed of clay and limestone, which helps to give the wine its distinctive character.

Notable vintage years include 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. These vintages have all been highly acclaimed by critics for their intense aromas and flavors of dark fruits, spices, herbs and minerals. In addition to these great vintages, the winemakers have also released special limited edition bottlings such as ‘La Vina de los Enamorados’ (The Vineyard of Lovers) in 2013 and ‘La Vina de los Amigos’ (The Vineyard of Friends) in 2014. These wines were made with grapes from old vines that had been carefully selected for their quality and character.
